We founded Camp Eden in 2001 with a goal of bringing authenticity back to the world of summer camp. We transitioned to sleepover camp in 2012 with the purchase of the old Elephant Lake Lodge. As life partners and seasoned camp operators, we discovered this "diamond in the rough" on this stunning lake and realized it was the perfect, natural setting to give our campers exactly what they need. As parents to 5 kids of our own we felt like we had a good understanding of how versatile the campers needs were and how important it is to respect every campers individuality.
These days, kids are typically surrounded by screens and scheduled to go from one activity to another - and this lifestyle has even found its way into some sleepover camps. Our approach is different. We believe kids need to unplug to truly reconnect, and have a bit of free time to explore their own passions and discover the world.
At Camp Eden Woods, we strive everyday to give them that freedom to grow, challenge themselves, make new friends and most of all - lasting memories.
Since opening in 2012, our camp has grown by leaps and bounds, driven by word of mouth from one satisfied parent (and happy child) to another. We look forward to sharing the next chapter of our story with your family.
All the best from Elephant Lake,
Lior & Sharon Gluzberg
Proud Owners of Camp Eden Woods
Hey there, campers! I'm Mayia, and I've been a part of the Camp Eden Woods family for a decade now. My journey at this incredible place started back in 2014 when I spent my first summer here as a CIT. The moment I stepped foot at camp, I knew I had found my second home. Little did I know that my passion for life here would lead me to become the Program Director!
In the past ten years, I've spent almost every summer right here at Camp Eden Woods, in a variety of positions, watching campers like you grow and create your own memories just like I did.
I am so excited to be apart of your journeys and I am beyond excited to have the best summers to date over the coming years.
I look forward to spending the summer with you all!
Without them, CEW would not be possible!
Perhaps the greatest complement to our counsellors is that we have managed to keep the majority of them year after year. With the experience and knowledge of how our camp works, we are able to maximize the depth of our programming and truly offer the best that we can in camp experience. The average age of our counsellors is early 20's and we take great pride in hiring people with a true passion for camp, education, and nature. Some of our counsellors are travelers from various countries. This gives our camp an international feeling. Campers and counsellors make friends with people from all over the world and stay in touch. On one occasion we even went on a camper trip to Spain and visited camp friends we met camp. It was an incredible feeling to know that we have created this amazing network of Camp Eden Woods alumni.
Our activity instructors or “specialists” are experienced and educated in their field. They bring with them the passion for their art and provide campers with the unique history and background they each teach with. When hiring our specialists and staff we consider their certificates, degrees/diplomas, years of experience in the field, references and police checks.
We are honoured to have so many international staff every summer. From France, Italy, Australia, Israel, Germany, England and more. We get to expose campers to a whole new world - culture, traditions, language and foods. We open camper’s minds to this great big beautiful world full of so many amazing international differences, and similarities!
